A National First! "One-Time Rail Transfer" Enables Direct Shipment from Yantai Port of Shandong Port Group to Africa

On July 14, reporters learned from Yantai Port of Shandong Port Group that 60 opentop rail carriages operated by CRRC Yangtze Group arrived at Yantai Port via railway transportation. After completing vehicle disassembly, packaging, and loading at the port, they were shipped to Guinea along the "China-Africa Two-Way Logistics Golden Corridor." This operation marks an innovative collaboration between Yantai Port, China Railway, Winning Alliance, and CRRC Yangtze Group to launch a onetime rail transfer export service for rail carriages. Going forward, various types of rail vehicles will be shipped to Guinea sequentially through this model.

"One-time rail transfer" refers to the one-time cargo transportation of enterprise-owned freight cars via national railways after obtaining a rail transfer permit. The realization of one-time rail transfer between different levels of rail lines, such as intercity railways and urban railways, is an inevitable requirement for the integration of the four major rail networks in rail transit.

A relevant person in charge of Yantai Port explained that under this model, goods do not require multiple loading, unloading, or transshipment, which effectively reduces costs in intermediate links such as loading/unloading and warehousing. It also promotes in-depth integration of various transportation modes, improving logistics efficiency and economic benefits.

Prior to launching the service, with support from China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., CRRC Yangtze Group successfully obtained the Technical Inspection Certificate for Rail Transfer of Enterprise-Owned Railway Freight Cars. In June this year, Yantai Port and CRRC Yangtze Group officially launched the service and jointly formulated detailed operational technical plans. With joint efforts from all parties, the first batch of open-top carriages successfully passed customer acceptance, were loaded onto ships, and set sail.

The successful implementation of this service further strengthens the close connection between the "railway-port" transportation system, builds an efficient integrated transportation system, and injects new momentum into the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and the export of "Made in China."
